IIT Roorkee is Asia’s oldest technical university placed among the top 6 IITs in India. IIT Roorkee tops NIRF ranking 2022 for Architecture. It is placed at 1st for its BArch course, 6th place for Engineering, and 7th for overall performance. The institute stands at 369 position in the QS World ranking 2023. IIT Roorkee admission 2022 is currently ongoing for the B.Tech program. JoSAA 2022 round 6 seat allotment result is out now. Online reporting for admission and document verification for candidates allotted seats in round 6 will take place till October 17. IIT Roorkee B.Tech Cutoff 2022 (Released)
IIT Roorkee B.Tech cutoff 2022 is the minimum rank to get admitted to the B.Tech program. The cutoff will be released by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). IIT Roorkee is Asia’s oldest technical university ranked 6 by the NIRF for Engineering. The institute has also been ranked at 1 in for Architecture courses in India. IIT Roorkee Courses
IIT Roorkee through its 23 academic departments and 7 centers offers a total of 14 courses. IIT Roorkee BTech
IIT Roorkee BTech has been ranked 6th among the NIRF 2022 ratings. The total intake capacity of the program is 893 seats. Along with the 4 year BTech program the institute also offers a 5 years integrated MTech (BTech + MTech) program. For the Integrated MTech program, IIT Roorkee offers two additional specialisations: Geophysical Technology and Geological Technology.
Students pursuing BTech program at IIT Roorkee can also change their branch after the second semester. Any student admitted through the JEE Advanced exam is eligible to change their branch at the end of 1st semester. He/ she must satisfy the specified requirements and should not have failed any of the courses in their 1st semester to become eligible for branch change.
IIT Roorkee MBA
IIT Roorkee MBA ranks at 19 in the Management category of NIRF rankings 2022. The program is offered in 5 specializations by the Department of Management Studies, IIT Roorkee. The institute charges INR 8.28 lakhs for the 2 year MBA program. The total intake capacity of the MBA program is 95 seats. Selection to the program is based on CAT exam scores along with GD and PI rounds conducted by the Department. Candidates who have completed their bachelor’s degree from IIT with a CGPA of 7.0 and above are exempted from submission of CAT scores for admission. The minimum eligibility for admission is 2 years of working experience and a 95 percentile in the CAT exam.

IIT Roorkee MTech
IIT Roorkee offers a two year MTech program at PG level. The institute charges a total fee of INR 45,750 for the MTech program. IIT Roorkee MTech is available in 40 specialisations for three categories of students. The categories are Full-time regular, Full-time Sponsored, and Part-Time Sponsored. Admission to the Full-Time regular MTech program is done via GATE scores and COAP counselling. Admission to the Full-time Sponsored exempts GATE exam score. The candidate is selected for admission based on the performance in the Interview round. Part-time Sponsored candidates are also exempted from both GATE exam scores. The admission under such category is offered to only those candidates who live in Roorkee.The duration of these MTech programs vary as per the modes.
IIT Roorkee Placement
The IIT Roorkee Placement is carried out in three phases. In Phase 1 the relevant information and job annexure is sent to the companies via email/post. In Phase 2, the placement cell alots a specified date to the company as per the student’s ranking. Students sign their willingness by registering for the company of their choice online. In Phase 3, the companies visit the institute campus and conduct their selection process.
IIT Roorkee finished its placement session 2021-22 and bagged the highest international salary package of INR 2.15 crore on the first day. A total of 13 international offers were made, while three students got a domestic salary offer of INR 1.3-1.8 crore. IIT Roorkee Scholarships

- James Thomason Scholarship: IITR offers James Thomason Scholarship to students with AIR up to 250. The scholarship will provide INR 25,000 per month to the eligible students who secured a minimum of 8.0 CGPA in each academic year.
- SC/ST/PH Scholarship: The institute offers tuition fee waivers to the SC/ST/PH category students. Students are able to get a full tuition fee waiver under this scheme.
- Air CMDR Shyam Chand Mehra Scholarship: IITR offers this scholarship to the BTech girl student of Electrical Engineering. The students who obtain higher CGPA in their 1st and 2nd year will be awarded INR 10,000 per annum. While the students who obtain a higher CGPA in their 4th year will be awarded INR 15,000 per annum.
- Naveen & Anu Jain Scholarship: The IIT Roorkee BTech students whose annual parental income is less than INR 2 lakhs are awarded Nabveen & Anu Jain scholarship. Students under this scheme will be able to get INR 1,000 per month for 10 consecutive months.
